Why EchoSlice

Light, acoustic material and a distinctive ceiling form

EchoSlice uses segmented PET felt fins around a diffused LED center. Unlike a flat acoustic panel, the fins introduce depth, shadow and multiple exposed edges. Unlike a standard decorative pendant, the visible felt body adds absorptive material close to the tables, seating and activity zones below.

This makes the fixture particularly relevant when a designer wants to identify a meeting point, reception desk, café table or breakout zone without filling the ceiling with separate decorative lights and passive acoustic elements. The installation shown here comes from a real custom acoustic pendant project developed from the client’s reference images.

EchoSlice contributes sound absorption within the room; it is not a soundproofing product and does not prevent sound transmission through walls, doors, floors or ceilings. For a broader overview of absorption, blocking and office noise control, read the open-plan office acoustic design guide.

Why EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light
Why EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light - Exposed PET Felt Fins

Exposed PET Felt Fins

The radial arrangement presents several faces, edges and air paths instead of one flat visible surface. This gives reflected sound more opportunities to interact with the porous felt while creating a dimensional ceiling feature.

Why EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light Integrated LED Center

Integrated LED Center

A diffused central light provides useful downward illumination without introducing a separate pendant fixture. The result is a cleaner relationship between the light source, acoustic body and furniture below.

Why EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light - Sculptural Radial Form

Sculptural Radial Form

The segmented circular profile creates a stronger focal point than a conventional flat panel or linear pendant. Repetition, felt color and suspension height can be used to reinforce the cohesive interior concept.

Why EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light - Project Customization

Project Customization

Coordinate diameter, felt color, CCT, dimming, suspension length, labeling and packaging with the specific project brief. Final feasibility depends on quantity, electrical market and required modifications.

FLT-EP series

Two Sizes, One Coordinated Product Family

The FLT-EP series translates the EchoSlice concept into two standard diameters for compact commercial interiors. Both models combine a circular PET felt body with an integrated LED center, allowing designers to maintain one consistent product language while adjusting the fixture scale and light output to the furniture and occupied zone below.

Select the standard model only after reviewing the room use, desired visual weight and lighting requirement. A larger diameter creates more presence but does not automatically determine the correct fixture quantity or acoustic result; spacing, suspension position and the total amount of installed felt remain part of the wider project decision.

EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Light — Sound & Light, Suspended as One

EchoSlice is more than a decorative light. Its PET felt body brings a softer material around the light source, helping it sit comfortably within offices, meeting rooms, coworking spaces, reception areas and commercial interiors dominated by glass, plasterboard, concrete or exposed ceilings.

Use the Ø500 mm model above compact meeting tables, reception counters and smaller feature areas. Choose the more visually prominent Ø600 mm model for larger tables, lounges, dining areas and repeated ceiling layouts.

The diffused LED center provides soft, practical illumination below, while the felt form introduces color and texture at ceiling level. Consider mounting height, viewing angle, work-plane needs, furniture dimensions and any supplementary general lighting.

For repeated installations, approve one combination of diameter, felt color, CCT, dimming and suspension length before production to maintain a consistent illuminated effect and ceiling rhythm.

Acoustic Pendant Lighting for Commercial Interiors

Place the fixture above occupied zones where illumination, visual identity and added absorptive material are all useful. EchoSlice is particularly relevant above meeting tables, reception counters, dining areas, library tables and informal collaboration points where people speak, work or gather beneath a clearly defined ceiling feature.

The same pendant should not be applied to every room in the same way. Offices may prioritize visual comfort and controlled brightness around screens; hospitality spaces may place more emphasis on warmer atmosphere and felt color; education and library projects may need durable finishes and distributed layouts. Match the configuration to the activity instead of selecting only by shape.

Application note: Positioning should not be based on appearance alone. Confirm the work-plane lighting requirement, fixture spacing, standing eye-level glare, furniture alignment and conflicts with ceiling services. Where a whole open office needs broader treatment, combine localized pendants with appropriately selected wall panels, clouds or baffles rather than relying on decorative fixtures alone. The differences between an acoustic blade, acoustic baffle and integrated acoustic light are especially important when moving from one feature zone to a ceiling-wide scheme.

Product fit

Is EchoSlice The Right Acoustic Light for Your Project?

EchoSlice is strongest as a localized feature pendant positioned above the people, furniture and activities it is intended to serve. It combines a distinctive circular form, integrated LED illumination and exposed PET felt surfaces in one ceiling element, making it particularly useful where acoustic material must become part of the interior design rather than appear as an added treatment.

The fixture is not intended to replace every light or provide complete acoustic treatment for a large room by itself. Its suitability depends on the scale of the occupied zone, required light output, ceiling height, surrounding reflective finishes and whether the project needs a single visual focal point or broader ceiling-wide acoustic coverage.

Start with the room, not the fixture

Define the occupied zone, furniture footprint, ceiling height, target light level and acoustic objective before choosing the diameter or quantity. A visually attractive pendant can still be the wrong solution if its scale, output or felt area does not match the room.

EchoSlice works best as a localized radial feature. A project that needs a broad horizontal absorber may be better served by an acoustic panel pendant light, while workstation rows and long tables often align more naturally with linear acoustic pendant lighting. Where the visual brief calls for an open-center circle at a larger scale, compare the acoustic ring pendant range.

The commercial acoustic lighting selection guide explains how to compare these formats using room function, light distribution, acoustic coverage and ceiling coordination rather than appearance alone.

Choose EchoSlice when

The project needs a circular sculptural pendant over a defined table, seating group, reception point or collaboration zone.

Repeat it when

A larger area needs a coordinated visual rhythm and several separate lighting points can be distributed across the ceiling plan.

Choose another format when

Long workstation rows, broad horizontal coverage or large exposed ceilings require a linear, panel or baffle-based solution instead.

How it works

Is EchoSlice The Right Acoustic Light for Your Project?

How EchoSlice Acoustic Pendant Works

The EchoSlice acoustic light brings PET felt, an integrated lighting system and a diffused optical aperture together in one suspended architectural fixture. Each component performs a distinct role: the porous felt surfaces contribute sound absorption, the LED module provides practical illumination, and the diffuser helps manage visible brightness while distributing light across the occupied area below.

Its radial arrangement of vertical felt blades creates a sculptural ceiling feature without forming a visually heavy, fully enclosed panel. EchoSlice may be a suitable choice when the project requires localized illumination together with additional absorptive material near conversation or activity zones. Felt color, fixture size, suspension height, light output, color temperature and control requirements can be coordinated with the furniture layout, ceiling services and wider interior palette.

Lighting and acoustic performance should still be evaluated as two related but separate systems. Final quantity, spacing and mounting height should be confirmed through lighting calculations, while the acoustic contribution depends on the tested felt construction, exposed surface area, installation conditions and overall room strategy. For project specification, compare the required illuminance, glare control, ceiling scale and total installed acoustic area rather than selecting the fixture by appearance alone.

Acoustic expectations

Evaluate The Pendant As Part of The Whole Room

A complete acoustic-lighting decision cannot be reduced to one material number. The result depends on how much felt is exposed, how many fixtures are used, where they are suspended and what other surfaces already exist in the room. Glass walls, hard floors, bare ceilings and high room volumes usually require more total absorption than a furnished room with carpet, curtains and upholstered seating.

EchoSlice can place absorptive PET felt closer to speech and activity zones while also fulfilling a lighting role. That is useful, but it does not make the pendant a complete room-acoustic system. The product contribution should be considered together with wall treatment, ceiling treatment, furniture, occupancy and any formal reverberation or speech-comfort target.

NRC describes a tested material or assembly

NRC helps compare absorption under a defined laboratory setup. It does not state how much total absorption one sculptural pendant contributes to a finished room.

RT60 describes sound decay in a room

Room volume, glass, concrete, furniture, occupancy and the total installed acoustic area all influence reverberation time.

Quantity links product and room

Several pendants provide more exposed felt area than one. Lighting output, spacing and acoustic coverage must be considered together.

EchoSlice should therefore be presented as a product that contributes absorptive material near an occupied zone, not as a guaranteed whole-room noise solution. This distinction matters because a complete acoustic light should not be judged by a flat-material NRC number alone. NRC and room reverberation also answer different questions; the guide to NRC versus RT60 explains why a material result cannot predict the finished room by itself.

If the project has a formal reverberation target, an acoustic consultant or project-specific calculation should determine the required treatment. Room dimensions, volume, existing finishes and target conditions are also the starting inputs when estimating how many acoustic lights a space may need.

Six Decisions to Make Before Requesting A Quote

A more complete enquiry produces a more useful recommendation and reduces revisions later. Rather than sending only a reference image, describe where the pendant will be used, what sits below it, how much light the zone needs and which details must match the wider interior or electrical specification.

These inputs help align the diameter, finish, light output and quantity with the ceiling, furniture and commercial schedule. They also allow standard options to be separated from genuine customization, so sample requirements, lead time, packaging and approval responsibilities can be discussed before production.

Use One Pendant or Build A Repeated Layout

EchoSlice fixtures can be specified individually or arranged as separate repeated pendants. One pendant can identify a compact meeting or reception point, while a row or cluster can extend the same circular product language across a larger dining, lounge or collaboration area.

Repeated fixtures remain separate suspended products; this does not imply a mechanically connected grid system. Each layout therefore needs coordinated power points, suspension positions, spacing and mounting heights. Color and height variations can create a more expressive composition, while consistent finishes and alignment produce a calmer architectural rhythm.

FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask About EchoSlice Acoustic Pendants

The questions below address the practical issues that appear most often when buyers compare acoustic pendant lights: whether they noticeably affect room sound, how they differ from ordinary luminaires, how many may be needed, where they should be positioned and which lighting or customization details must be confirmed.

Answers describe the current EchoSlice product direction without treating one pendant as a guaranteed whole-room solution. Project-specific lighting, acoustic, ceiling and commercial requirements should be reviewed before the final model and quantity are approved.

What is a radial EchoSlice acoustic pendant light?

It is a suspended light that arranges PET felt fins around a central lighting element. The radial form creates a sculptural circular profile and adds multiple exposed felt surfaces to the room.

How is an acoustic pendant different from a regular pendant light?

A regular pendant is selected primarily for illumination and appearance. An acoustic pendant also includes a porous felt body intended to absorb a portion of reflected sound. It still needs to meet the same basic lighting requirements for output, distribution, glare, color quality and controls.

Do acoustic pendant lights really reduce noise?

They can reduce reflected sound energy and contribute to lower reverberation when enough absorptive material is installed in suitable locations. They do not silence a room, remove the sound source or block noise travelling between rooms. The audible result depends on fixture quantity, exposed felt area and the rest of the room.

How do the PET felt fins contribute to room acoustics?

The porous felt absorbs a portion of reflected sound energy. The installed contribution depends on felt thickness, exposed area, fixture quantity, spacing, suspension position, room volume and surrounding finishes.

Does EchoSlice soundproof a room?

No. EchoSlice contributes sound absorption within the same room, but it does not stop sound passing through walls, doors, floors or ceilings. Sound isolation must be addressed separately.

Can acoustic pendant lights improve speech privacy?

Reducing reverberation may make speech feel more controlled within the room, but an acoustic pendant does not create confidential speech privacy by itself. Privacy between rooms usually requires appropriate walls, doors, ceiling construction, sealing and sometimes sound masking.

Can EchoSlice replace acoustic wall panels or ceiling baffles?

Not automatically. EchoSlice is useful where a defined occupied zone needs both light and added absorption. Large, highly reflective or high-occupancy rooms may still require wall panels, ceiling clouds or baffles to provide sufficient total treatment.

Where are radial acoustic pendant lights most useful?

Typical locations include small and medium meeting tables, reception counters, café and restaurant seating, coworking breakout areas, library tables and informal collaboration zones. The circular form works best where it can relate clearly to the furniture or activity below.

Are acoustic pendant lights suitable for open-plan offices?

They can support meeting points, collaboration tables and breakout areas within an open office. Long workstation rows or ceiling-wide treatment may be better served by linear pendants, panels or baffle systems. Review the wider open-plan office acoustic strategy before applying one pendant type throughout the space.

Do acoustic pendants work in rooms with high ceilings?

They can contribute absorption in high-ceiling spaces, but scale and suspension position become more important. A small pendant placed close to a very high ceiling may have limited relationship to the occupied zone. Large rooms often need multiple fixtures or additional acoustic treatments.

Which diameter should I choose?

Choose according to the table or furniture footprint, desired visual scale, mounting height and required light output. Ø500 mm suits compact zones; Ø600 mm provides a larger visual presence.

How many EchoSlice pendants does a room need?

There is no universal fixture count. An initial recommendation should consider room dimensions, ceiling height, furniture layout, required illuminance, fixture output, existing finishes and the acoustic objective. Send these inputs with the enquiry instead of choosing quantity from floor area alone.

How far apart should acoustic pendant lights be spaced?

Spacing should follow the furniture layout and lighting calculation rather than a fixed decorative rule. Check light uniformity, overlap between beams, visual rhythm, power locations, ceiling services and the total distribution of felt across the occupied zone.

Can several EchoSlice pendants be arranged together?

Yes. Separate pendants may be repeated in rows or clusters. Coordinate spacing, suspension height, color and electrical points with the reflected ceiling plan.

Can EchoSlice provide the main lighting for a room?

Possibly, but the answer must come from the required illuminance and a lighting calculation. Compare the total lumen output, beam angle, mounting height, room reflectance and fixture spacing. Some projects may use EchoSlice as feature or zonal lighting alongside other luminaires.

What color temperature works best for offices and hospitality spaces?

Office and education projects commonly consider neutral white settings, while restaurants, lounges and reception areas often prefer a warmer atmosphere. The correct CCT should follow the interior materials, task needs and project lighting standard rather than one universal recommendation.

Is EchoSlice dimmable?

The listed configuration includes DALI, 0–10 V, Triac and On/Off options. Confirm the required control protocol, input voltage and driver configuration when requesting a quotation because “dimmable” alone does not establish system compatibility.

Can size, color and lighting specifications be customized?

Project customization can cover felt color, diameter, fin profile, CCT, output, dimming, suspension length, labeling and packaging, subject to feasibility and order quantity.

Can I order a sample before a bulk order?

Sample availability, cost and lead time depend on the selected product configuration. Include the required size, color, CCT, dimming and destination when requesting a sample.

Does PET felt collect dust?

Like other exposed interior surfaces, PET felt can collect airborne dust over time, especially in high-traffic or poorly filtered environments. Regular gentle maintenance is easier than allowing visible buildup, and dark or very light colors may show dust differently.

How should PET felt be cleaned?

Use a soft brush or low-suction vacuum for loose dust. Test any cleaning method on an inconspicuous area and avoid soaking, aggressive rubbing or harsh chemicals.

What information should I send for an accurate quotation?

Provide the destination country, quantity, preferred diameter, felt color, CCT, dimming protocol, room type, ceiling height and required delivery date. Furniture plans or reflected ceiling plans can help clarify the intended layout even when formal project files are not yet available.
